VA Launches New Research on MSCA Unit Costs for FP10

27 April 2026 / Research

How can funding models better support researchers and institutions across Europe? As the EU prepares its next Framework Programme for Research & Innovation (FP10), these questions are becoming increasingly important.

We are excited to announce that Visionary Analytics has been contracted by the European Commission (DG EAC) to carry out a study titled “Study on the review of MSCA unit costs in preparation of FP10.”  The project will conduct a comprehensive review of the MSCA unit cost system, in line with the EC’s policy priorities and the proposed design of FP10, to inform the definition of future researcher- and institution-related unit costs across all MSCAs.

The study will examine the suitability of the existing unit cost model, analyse its application across different MSCA actions, and identify opportunities for refining methodologies, including country correction coefficients. It will also provide forward-looking recommendations to strengthen both researcher and institutional support under MSCA.

Through surveys, interviews, and extensive desk and market research, the study will gather data and insights from MSCA fellows, organisations, and other actors across Europe, contributing to more effective and transparent funding approaches in the next programming period.

The project kicked off in March 2026 and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
