The European School Education Platform (ESEP), together with its well-known eTwinning component, serves as a key hub for collaboration, innovation, and professional development among educators across Europe. By connecting teachers, school leaders, and education professionals, it fosters cross-border partnerships, promotes innovative teaching practices, and supports the integration of European values into classrooms. As the platform continues to evolve, understanding its impact and how it can be further improved is vital for maximising its potential in the years ahead.
Commissioned by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC) and delivered in partnership with Tetra Tech, Visionary Analytics is leading a comprehensive study to evaluate ESEP’s relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, coherence, and added value—both at national and international levels. The research will look closely at how the platform supports its users, the degree to which it integrates into national school systems, and the educational benefits it generates.
The study will:
-
Assess user satisfaction with ESEP’s features and functionalities.
-
Analyse engagement levels of eTwinning members.
-
Examine the platform’s integration into national education systems and its broader educational impact.
-
Evaluate its resource efficiency and governance.
-
Identify best practices in using the platform to drive educational collaboration and innovation.
-
Provide actionable recommendations to enhance ESEP’s design and content for current and future users.
Our methodology combines EU-level desk research and literature review, interviews, platform usage data analysis, targeted surveys, benchmarking, mapping, and in-depth country case studies—including national-level interviews, focus groups, and school-level data collection. Findings will be validated through stakeholder workshops to ensure the recommendations are practical and well-aligned with the needs of the education community.
By capturing the platform’s achievements and identifying opportunities for improvement, this study will support the continued growth and relevance of ESEP, ensuring it remains a cornerstone of European educational collaboration.
The project is expected to be finished by September 2026.
