What have you gained from your internship? 10092.jpg

What key skills do you feel you have developed?

Since this was my first internship, I have learned a lot of new things from it. Firstly, I have gained an understanding of how research based advisory companies work. Although I was performing small tasks, I “saw the bigger picture” at weekly lunches during which colleagues would discuss ongoing evaluations, upcoming tenders and communication with clients. Secondly, I have acquired knowledge in the field of policy analysis. More specifically, I have contributed to the evaluation of the implementation of the Operational Programme for European Structural funds and Investments. This internship has also helped me develop my MS Office skills – although it seems like a minor achievement, it is actually necessary to be efficient with these programs in any field of activity.

What made you happy about your internship?

I was surprised and glad about the high level of responsibility of my tasks. It made me feel like a valued and trusted member of the team. I also liked the encouraging atmosphere in the office – issues are always discussed openly and everyone’s opinion is respected regardless of status.

Suggestions for future interns

Do not be afraid to ask “stupid” questions if you do not understand something – even though the standards are high, you are not expected to know everything.
